Olivia Valere sits 800 metres up the road to Istán, four kilometres from Puerto Banús, in a palace of patios and fountains that its early website said borrowed from the Alhambra and the Mezquita of Córdoba. It has traded there for more than a quarter of a century, and clients still name it when they book. LØV, the dinner-show restaurant, keeps the same two nights out of season. The open-air terrace runs nightly from 15 June to the end of September and is now shut.

What the Venue Itself Publishes

We checked the club's own site on 4 October 2026, since listings sites still show summer hours. The homepage gives the club and LØV as open on Friday and Saturday, the club page gives 00:30 to 05:00, and the table form accepts dates from 2 to 15 October. The advertised shows are themed productions called Cirque, Jungle and Pueblo Loco, so a Saturday may be a costume night. The terrace is marked closed until summer.

A Palace on the Istán Road Since at Least 2000

The club's first website, archived in September 2000, gave the same address it uses today. Its early pages described a Babylon palace of gardens and fountains, and credited the design to the architect Oscar de la Peña and the interior designer Miguel Cancio, who also worked on Buddha-Bar in Paris. A 2014 refit added gold tones, wrought iron and a raised VIP area looking down on the dance floor, and the club then quoted a capacity of more than a thousand. The restaurant once called Babilonia now trades as LØV.

Why It Shrinks to Two Nights in Winter

The club follows the town's hotel curve. INE's hotel occupancy survey counted 89 hotels open in Marbella in August 2025 and 54 in January 2026, with room occupancy of 37.8% that January against 84.6% in August 2026. A thousand-capacity room cannot fill on a Wednesday in November, so it opens when the weekend visitors arrive. On a Thursday the gate is shut, and the nearest late room is COYA Club at Puente Romano, which our Puente Romano guide lists from Thursday to Saturday until 04:00.

Kilometre 0.8 of the Istán Road: Getting There and Back

Olivia Valere stands at kilometre 0.8 of the A-7176 to Istán, inland of the A-7 between Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile. By road it is 4 km from Puerto Banús, 2.2 km from the Marbella Club and 5.5 km from the old town. Nobody walks there, and everybody leaves at the same time.

Distances and the Night Meter

Marbella's 2026 taxi tariff charges €4.64 plus €1.41 a kilometre at night and at weekends, so the run from Puerto Banús is about €10 on the meter and from the Plaza de los Naranjos about €12.40. From a Golden Mile hotel such as the Marbella Club or Puente Romano, roughly two kilometres away, it is under €8. From Málaga airport, 58 km by road, a club-night arrival is a booked transfer, not a taxi you hail at the kerb. All distances here are road distances measured on OpenStreetMap.

The Five O'Clock Problem

The club closes at 05:00 and holds around a thousand people, so the worst queue of the night is for cars, not for the door. Everyone outside is ringing the same taxi numbers at once. We tell clients to book the return when they book the table: a driver who waits, or a pickup fixed for 04:30, before the rush. The Dress Code, as the Club Writes It

The club publishes one rule and a banned list: dress elegantly, and men must wear a shirt. T-shirts, shorts, tracksuits, tank tops, caps, sandals, flip-flops and shoulder bags are refused. The rule has teeth: a prepaid table is cancelled without refund if anyone in the party fails it.

For Men: Shirt, Trousers, Closed Shoes

A shirt with a collar, long trousers and closed shoes clear the door. A jacket is not required, whatever older guides say. The banned list catches outfits that pass everywhere else in Marbella in summer: linen shorts from the beach club, the designer T-shirt, the sliders. Caps and cross-body bags are the two items men forget. If you are coming on from a Puerto Banús club where a smart T-shirt was fine, change first, because this door is stricter.

For a Companion: Cocktail Dress, Heels, a Clutch

The rule reads as if written for men, but it is applied to the whole party, and sandals and shoulder bags appear on the list without qualification. What Getting It Wrong Costs

At most clubs a dress-code failure costs you the night. Here it can cost the table as well: the venue's cancellation policy says a reservation is cancelled without refund if the holder and guests do not meet the dress code. On a pink table that is €2,000 already paid. The same policy reserves the right to refuse a party that exceeds the table's maximum, again without refund, so book for the number of people who will actually arrive, not the number who might.

How Does the Door at Olivia Valere Decide?

A prepaid table is the only certain entry. Without one, the club says guests may be admitted depending on availability, and it reserves the right of admission. Its booking forms ask how many men and how many women are coming, which tells you what the door is counting. Couples and mixed groups fare best.

The Question on the Booking Form

Every Olivia Valere booking form, for the club, the terrace and LØV, carries two required fields: how many men, how many girls. That is the door policy in writing. A paid table for six men is a confirmed booking; the same six without a table at 02:00 on an August Saturday are the group most likely to be turned away. A couple who arrive together, dressed correctly, are the easiest yes the door gives all night, which is worth knowing if you are bringing a companion.

Booking, Paying and Cancelling

Table requests go through a form on the club's site or by WhatsApp, and the venue promises confirmation within 24 hours, so a Saturday table is a Thursday job at the latest. The minimum is paid in full when you book. If it has not been paid 24 hours before arrival, the reservation is cancelled automatically, and a refund is possible only if you cancel more than 48 hours ahead.

Walking Up Without a Table

Possible on a winter Friday, a gamble on a summer Saturday. Arrive before 01:30, when the room is filling but the door is not yet choosing, with the party you will leave with and dressed to the list above. Do not split a group to improve the ratio and regroup inside; door staff are used to it. If entry decides whether the evening works, pay for the white table: €500 for up to five people is the cheapest certainty in the building.

What the Minimum Buys, and Which Table to Take

The club's terms say tables are booked for bottles only, so the minimum is money spent on bottles and mixers, paid in advance, not a cover charge on top. Eight people celebrating should look at pink, facing the DJ and the Cirque and Jungle shows; red at €1,500 is the cheaper seat for a group that would rather dance than watch. LØV and the Terrace: Starting the Night Inside the Gate

Two things change the night. LØV, the complex's dinner-show restaurant, serves from 21:30 with a minimum spend of €200 a head, and in summer the open-air terrace runs from 23:00 to 06:00. Eating at LØV puts you inside the gate three hours before the club opens, which takes the door out of the equation.

Dinner at LØV

LØV is a dinner show with performers, not a quiet restaurant. The venue sets a minimum of €200 per person on food and drink, so dinner for two starts at €400 before the first club bottle. The small print matters: reservations are held for 15 minutes, the restaurant may release a table after two hours, and kitchen service ends around 00:30 to 01:00. Out of season LØV opens on the club's two nights, and its site advertises company dinner shows and a Christmas Eve menu for December.

The Summer Terrace

From 15 June to the end of September the Terrace by Karen Valere opens every night from 23:00 to 06:00 under the open sky, with its own DJs, performers and bookings, and the same men-and-women question on the form. Because it runs seven nights a week in season, it is the summer answer for a midweek night out, and it stays open until 06:00, an hour after the club. In October it is shut, so check the date before promising it to anyone.

A Timetable That Works

The plan we give clients: car from the hotel at 21:15, dinner at LØV from 21:30, into the club when it opens at 00:30, leave at 04:30 before the closing rush, then food on the way back.
