For two people, a private room is about the evening rather than the noise: a chef's table gives you a show, while a corner table in a quiet restaurant gives you privacy at no extra cost. For four to six, the round rooms are the sweet spot, because one table keeps one conversation. From eight upwards, a private room stops being a luxury and becomes the only way to hear each other. Two to Six: Chef's Tables and Round Rooms

For a small party, the choice is between watching a chef and having a door to close. Messina's Chef's Table seats up to four beside the kitchen; Leña, Lobito de Mar and Tragabuches each have a round-table room for six; Skina has a private room with its own terrace, sized on request.

Messina's Chef's Table, for Four

Messina's Mesa del Chef is a single table for up to four, where Mauricio Giovanini serves the tasting menu along with dishes that may not yet have reached the main dining room. It is the most personal private dinner in town: you talk to the chef, watch the plating and hear why each dish is there. Two rules to know: the menu cannot be adapted for dietary restrictions, and Messina serves dinner only, closing on Tuesdays and Sundays. Menus cost €140 or €180 a head, with pairings of €70 or €85.

Leña, Lobito and Tragabuches: A Round Table for Six

All three Dani García restaurants in Marbella have a private room with a round table for up to six, and none publishes a fixed price: Leña's page says the cost depends on the menu and wines chosen. Leña's room suits a steak dinner that runs late, with the kitchen open until midnight; Lobito's suits seafood, served non-stop from 13:00 to 01:00; Tragabuches, in San Pedro, suits a long Andalusian lunch. Skina's Private Room and Terrace

The Michelin Guide lists a private room with its own terrace at Skina's farmhouse on Avenida Cánovas del Castillo, beside two wine cellars and a chill-out area. Skina does not publish a capacity, so ask when you call. The menus are the restaurant's own, from €349 for the Evolución menu to €599 for the Grand Cru with wines, and the standard terms apply to a group: every booking is held on a card, and missing diners are charged. Eight to Twelve: The Marbella Club's Rooms and InsIDe Messina

For eight to twelve, the Marbella Club has the most choice on the coast: a Private Dining room and a Bodega for ten each, and a Seasonal Garden for fourteen. In town, InsIDe Messina, the chef's first-floor kitchen loft, has two tables for groups of more than ten and a lounge.

The hotel's events pages list a Private Dining room for ten, set among the hotel's private wine collection with Andalusian decor and its own patio, and La Bodega, also for ten, where sommelier Ángel can lead a tasting before dinner in the Private Dining room. The Seasonal Garden takes fourteen in a corner of the grounds. What the Marbella Club Menus Cost

The hotel's 2026 events brochure prices seated menus per head, with 10 per cent VAT and a deluxe wine package included, for two hours at the table: €130 or €145 for the El Patio menus, €150 for the MC Beach menu, €175 for three courses from the Grill and €215 for four, with lobster ravioli and beef tournedos. The menu must be chosen up to 72 hours before. An open bar afterwards costs €50 for an hour or €85 for two, or €70 and €105 with premium spirits.

InsIDe Messina: Dinner in the Chef's Workshop

Messina has turned its first floor into a loft where the chef's and sommelier's offices sit beside a development kitchen and an area for guests. The restaurant describes two tables for groups of more than ten and a lounge, which makes it the most unusual private dinner in Marbella: the group eats where the next menu is being written. Ask for a price with your numbers, since none is published, and remember the restaurant's dinner-only hours.

How Do Minimum Spends and Set Menus Work Here?

Few Marbella restaurants publish a minimum spend for a private room. Most price the room through the menu: you choose a set menu and wines, and the bill follows. The Marbella Club prices per head with wine and a two-hour slot; the Dani García rooms price by the menu chosen. Ask for the figure in writing.

Set Menus and Deadlines

Expect a set menu for any group above six. The kitchen cooks one menu for the table rather than eight different orders, which keeps the pace even, and most venues want the choice fixed a few days ahead; the Marbella Club's cut-off is 72 hours. Sollo makes the whole table eat the same menu and cannot adapt it for vegetarians, and Messina's Chef's Table cannot change its menu for restrictions, so collect dietary needs before you book rather than at the table.

Guarantees When the Numbers Change

Group bookings are where card guarantees bite. Skina charges for each diner who fails to arrive without warning, BACK charges €50 a head for cancellations inside eight hours and asks groups over six to call first, and Sollo takes a €50 deposit per head that it does not refund. Confirm the final number the day before, in writing, and ask whether a smaller group can move to a normal table.

Paying a Large Bill

Spanish restaurant prices include 10 per cent VAT, and service is not added, though some event menus include it. On a group bill, a card held at booking is how most of these restaurants settle the account. Agree before the night who pays, whether the bill is one total or split by head, and whether the card on file is charged for the menu in advance or only for the final bill. If the dinner goes through a company, ask for an itemised invoice with the VAT shown.

Bigger Than Twelve: Group Menus and Buyouts

Above twelve, the private room becomes a group booking or a buyout. Leña, Lobito de Mar and Tragabuches run group menus from twelve people, and Leña can be hired whole for up to 110 and Tragabuches for 142. GAIA offers full hire for about 175, and NYX, behind it, about 90.

The three Dani García restaurants share one formula: a reserved area of the main room for twelve or more, a choice of group menus and a matching wine list, with exclusive use of the restaurant above that. For twenty or thirty people it keeps the restaurant's own atmosphere, which a hotel function room cannot. For a buyout, ask how the bar and the music are handled after midnight, and whether the group menu changes for a lunch sitting.

GAIA and NYX at Puente Romano

GAIA offers a semi-private area for large groups, tailored on request, and full hire of its terrace, pergola, dining room and bar for about 175. NYX, the speakeasy-style room behind GAIA, takes about 90 for a private party, with its own music and lounge. If you are already renting a villa, a private chef usually beats a restaurant room for eight or more: no end time, no taxis and wine at shop prices. Book a restaurant room for a business dinner, where a neutral venue and fixed costs matter; for a group staying in different hotels; and when nobody wants to be responsible for a house full of guests at 02:00.
