Where Should You Meet Your Companion in Puerto Banús?
Meet indoors, at a hotel bar or at the restaurant itself, rather than on the quay. Cars without a port pass cannot enter the marina precinct, the front line is crowded from about 9pm in summer, and a bar gives both of you ten quiet minutes before the evening starts.
Why the Quay Is the Wrong Meeting Point
The quay looks like the obvious place and is the worst one. A 1998 Junta de Andalucía resolution lets the marina control vehicles with barriers, and for 2026–27 a car needs an annual card or a one-day pass costing €255 in high season and €185 from October. Taxis therefore set down on Avenida Julio Iglesias by Plaza Antonio Banderas, and the last stretch is on foot. In July and August the front line is shoulder to shoulder from about 9pm, and standing outside a boutique scanning faces is the opposite of discreet.
A Hotel Bar on Either Side of the Port
Two hotels make easy meeting points. ME Marbella, the former Meliá Marbella Banús, reopened in July 2025 at kilometre 175 of the old coast road, on the Golden Mile side of the port, and its lobby bar is busy enough that a couple meeting there is unremarkable. Hard Rock Hotel Marbella, in the former H10 Andalucía Plaza next to Casino Marbella, is 1.2 km inland by road. She arrives by taxi at the main entrance, you have one drink, and a single car takes you both to dinner.
Or Meet at the Table
For a first booking we often suggest meeting at the restaurant: you arrive ten minutes early and the table is in your name. Los Bandidos, on Muelle Ribera at the eastern end of the port, warns its own guests that entry is restricted to port pass holders and that the public car parks are outside the port, which is exactly why walking in works better than a drop-off at the door. Send us the restaurant and the booking time; she messages when she is five minutes away and walks in on the hour.
Dinner in the Port: Which Table for Which Evening
Book for 9.30 or 10pm, when the port actually eats, and pick the room for the evening you want: a small, quiet room at Los Bandidos, sea views and a long wine list at La Habana Lounge, or live music at La Sala, across the main road, which stays open until 2am.
A Quiet Room: Los Bandidos
Los Bandidos has been on the front line for over 40 years, at Muelle Ribera 35. It is a small room with a covered terrace under a hanging garden, and the menu is founder Jill Lindberg's classics with a Scandinavian accent; the restaurant asks for bookings by telephone because it is full most of the year. It suits a first dinner: tables far enough apart to talk, a kitchen team that has worked together for years, and nobody performing for the quay. Tell us the time you booked and she will arrive five minutes after you.
Sea or Music: La Habana Lounge and La Sala
La Habana Lounge, in the Benabola block at Local B2, serves paellas, seafood and grilled meat from 1pm to midnight every day, with more than 70 wines and champagnes; diners using the Mathilda car park get two hours free. La Sala, on Calle Juan Belmonte across the main road towards the Nueva Andalucía bullring, has live music seven days a week, tribute nights, free valet parking and hours of 10am to 2am, until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Why We Ask Which Restaurant
The restaurant sets the register of the evening, so it is the first thing we ask. A quiet room calls for a different dress from a night that ends in a club; Tibu's door, for instance, wants long trousers and a collared shirt for men and refuses sportswear and flip-flops. Book the table first, give us the name and the time, and we match the booking to it. Our dinner-date companions are used to both.
After Dinner: Front-Line Bars and Their 2026 Hours
There is usually an hour and a half between the bill and any club. The front line fills it: Joys Live starts music on its terrace at 9.30pm and inside at 11.30pm, La Habana de Hemingway opens at 9pm with saxophone and percussion, and both stay open until 3am or 4am. With friends in tow, Crystal's Karaoke, opposite Plaza Antonio Banderas, has free entry and singing until 4am.
Live Music on the Front Line: Joys Live
Joys Live, at Calle Muelle Ribera Casa 1, is open from 10am to 3am and books live acts every night, singers and saxophonists among them. For two people a terrace table or the bar is the right call: a reserved table carries a minimum of one bottle of spirits or champagne per four guests, which makes sense for a group and none for a couple. Arrive straight from dinner at about 11pm for the terrace, then move inside when the 11.30pm set starts.
Later and Louder: La Habana de Hemingway
La Habana de Hemingway has been on the front line for more than two decades, looking across the quay at the berths where the largest yachts moor. It opens at 9pm every night and closes at 3am from Sunday to Thursday and 4am on Fridays and Saturdays, with dancers, a saxophonist and percussion on top of the DJ, and a themed party night most months. It is a dancing bar rather than a nightclub, which for many couples is the better end to an evening: no midnight door, and home by two if you want it.
The Club or the Quay: Deciding at Midnight
Decide at midnight, not over dinner. If you both want to dance, Tibu opens at midnight every night and runs to 6am, with tickets at the door subject to capacity and an 18+ ID check; if not, a slow walk along the quay past the Dock of Honour ends the evening better than a queue.
If It Is the Club
Tibu, on Plaza Antonio Banderas, is the port's year-round late room: open nightly from midnight to 6am, tickets required, smart dress, 18 and over with photo ID on request. Pangea's rooftop above the Club de Mar building is seasonal; in 2026 it ran from a reopening night on 24 April to a closing party on 26 September. For a couple, tickets and a drink at the bar are enough; tables start at €500 and are built for groups. If It Is the Quay
The marina holds 915 berths for boats up to 50 metres, and the largest usually lie along the Dock of Honour, the Muelle de Honor, where they can take fuel at the berth. After midnight the front line thins out; from Plaza Antonio Banderas to the Muelle de Honor viewpoint and back is about 1.3 km, twenty minutes at an evening pace. Book the Car Before You Leave the Table
Taxis set down and pick up on Avenida Julio Iglesias, the avenue along the landward side of the port, and ride-hailing works too: Crystal's Karaoke even tells Uber users which name to type to reach its stairs. Between 3am and 4am Joys Live, News Café and La Habana de Hemingway all close, so cars get scarce; we book hers in advance, and she never waits on the street. Where to Stay for a Puerto Banús Evening
Stay where the evening ends. A hotel at the port, such as ME Marbella or the Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús, keeps the trip home short; a Golden Mile resort is a €10 taxi and much quieter at 3am; a villa in Nueva Andalucía, behind the port, is the most private base for an overnight.
Hotels at Either End of the Port
ME Marbella has a lobby that stays busy late, so a guest coming back with company is one of many; under Real Decreto 933/2021 hotels register guests who stay, not visitors who leave. The Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús, on Calle Edgar Neville to the west, is a fifteen-minute walk from the port; this autumn its Jatame, Brasería and Il Mare restaurants and indoor car park are temporarily closed, with 20% off direct bookings for arrivals until 31 October 2026. A Villa Behind the Port
Nueva Andalucía starts on the far side of the main road: the bullring that serves as La Sala's landmark is 1 km from Plaza Antonio Banderas, and the golf valley rises behind it. A villa has no lobby, no lift and no night porter, so an overnight runs on your own schedule, and the port is a €6–€12 taxi away at night.
