Why Ahead and Not on the Day

Four Deposits, Worked Out
A Saturday dinner date arranged on the Wednesday before: three hours at €300 is €900, the deposit €225, and you pay her €675 when she arrives. An overnight at €3,000: a deposit of €750 and a balance of €2,250. A three-day trip to Madrid at €5,000 a day, €15,000 in all: a deposit of €3,750, with her train or flight and her hotel booked and paid by you on top, in her name. Why One Flat Percentage
A deposit is sized to the loss it covers: the part of the booking that cannot be resold once she has turned other work down. A quarter of the total does that, and one flat percentage makes the figure easy to check: divide the total in our message by four. Anything close to the whole amount is a prepayment wearing a deposit's name, and a fixed €200 or €300 asked of every enquiry, whatever is being booked, has been calculated against nothing. Señal: The Spanish Word and the Spanish Rule
In Spain a deposit is a señal, and the idea is old. For sales, article 1454 of the Civil Code lets either side walk away: the buyer by losing the señal, the seller by returning it twice over. Ours is simpler and kinder to the client: if the failure is ours, the deposit comes back in full the same day, as money rather than a credit, and you are told the moment we know.

The percentage does not change with the length: a weekend, a trip abroad, an event or a day on a boat takes 25% when booked ahead, as an hour does. What changes is the size of the sum, the notice window, from 72 hours for a yacht day to 7 days for travel, and what the deposit never covers.
Travel and Weekend Bookings
Travel is €5,000 a day on our profiles and a 48-hour weekend €6,000, so a weekend's deposit is €1,500 and a three-day trip's €3,750. Her flight or train and her hotel are paid by you on top, booked in her name, which keeps the tickets yours if plans change; they never pass through the deposit. Event Companions and Yacht Days
Events and yacht days are priced on her hourly rate, €300 an hour, or as an overnight if they run into the night, so five hours on a boat come to €1,500 and a deposit of €375. The charter, the venue and the food are paid separately to whoever provides them, and our deposit never includes them. An event companion booking has a 5-day window and a yacht day 72 hours; if the skipper calls the boat off for wind, the booking moves to the next calm day or becomes a dinner date, with the deposit following it.
