Key Takeaways:
  • Hotel galas start at 8pm and are prepaid: Puente Romano's Salón Andalucía dinner was €550 a head with wine for 31 December 2025, Marbella Club's €1,270
  • La Sala in Puerto Banús lists its 2026 dinner at €290 plus 10% service and an 8pm to 11pm open-bar ticket at €140
  • Midnight runs on Madrid's clock: one grape per chime from the Puerta del Sol, after four double cuartos that are not the bells
  • Taxis all but vanish between half past midnight and 2am; book a driver with a fixed pick-up, or stay where you can walk home
  • It is our most requested winter night, at the same price as any other night; an overnight booking at €3,000–€4,000 covers dinner, the grapes and the club

At midnight on 31 December Spanish television counts down to the clock on Madrid's Puerta del Sol, and in Marbella's ballrooms, port bars and villas twelve grapes are already waiting in front of every guest. Where you are at that moment, and how you get home two hours later, is decided weeks earlier, mostly in November. It is also the most requested winter night for Marbella escorts. For most visitors the best place to be at midnight is a Golden Mile hotel gala you can walk home from, at €550–€1,270 a head in 2025; a Puerto Banús dinner or bar ticket costs €140–€290, and a private villa is the quietest option.

Below are the options with published prices, the timetable and the logistics; the wider booking picture is in our Marbella escorts guide.

Where Should You Be at Midnight in Marbella?

Choose by how you want the night to end. A hotel gala gives dinner, grapes and dancing under one roof; a Puerto Banús restaurant or bar ticket costs less and puts the port on your doorstep; a villa avoids crowds and taxis entirely. Whichever you pick, book it in November.

How We Advise Clients to Choose

Three questions settle it. Do you want to dance after the grapes? Then pick a gala with a party attached, or a restaurant that turns into a club, rather than a dinner that ends at 1am with nowhere to go. Do you want to be seen? Puerto Banús is the public option and the Golden Mile the discreet one. And where are you sleeping? The best New Year's Eves we arrange end with a five-minute walk rather than a 45-minute wait for a taxi, so the hotel often decides the venue. A villa evening with a private chef removes the question altogether.

The Spanish Timetable on 31 December

Galas open with drinks at 8pm and sit down at 9pm. At midnight the whole country eats twelve grapes to the chimes from Madrid's Puerta del Sol, then the galas turn into parties, the port bars fill and the clubs pick up after 1am. Plan eight to ten hours, not four.

Dinner From 8pm, Not Before

The published timetables agree. In 2025 Marbella Club poured Dom Pérignon with canapés from 20:00 and sat its gala at 21:00; Puente Romano's Salón Andalucía opened at 20:00 and its COYA restaurant at 21:00. La Sala in Puerto Banús runs its 2026 open bar from 20:00 to 23:00. Arrive half an hour after the start: arriving at 22:00 means rushing the main course before the clock. Keep lunch on the 31st light and early, because dinner will be long.

Twelve Grapes, Twelve Chimes

The twelve grapes date back to at least 1895 and spread nationally after Alicante growers promoted a surplus harvest in 1909. Since 1962 the chimes have been broadcast from the Puerta del Sol clock, and the 2025–26 broadcast on La 1 alone drew 5.8 million viewers. Before the twelve strokes come the cuartos, four double chimes that are not the bells; starting on those is the classic visitor's mistake. One grape per stroke, one for each month of the coming year. Seedless grapes make it much easier.

After the Grapes

Midnight is the middle of the night, not the end. The galas move to the dance floor: at Marbella Club the 2025 open bar, live music and DJ were in Rudi's, and Puente Romano's programme promised fireworks over its beach. In our experience the port bars are full by half past twelve and the clubs from about 1am. La Sala's 2026 menu even lists early-morning bacon baguettes, which tells you how late the room expects to go.

What New Year's Eve Costs at Named Venues

Published menus give a reliable range. For 31 December 2025, Marbella Club charged €1,270 a head and Puente Romano €550 with wine, with packages from €500 at COYA Club and €700 at COYA. For 2026, La Sala in Puerto Banús lists €290 plus service for dinner and €140 for an open-bar ticket.

Marbella Club: €1,270 a Head

The Marbella Club festive menus for 2025 set the benchmark: 50 grams of Beluga caviar with brioche, Escoffier consommé, glazed lobster with amontillado, beef tournedos with truffle, the twelve grapes, Alión from Ribera del Duero and Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, then live music, a DJ and an open bar in Rudi's. At €1,270 it cost three times the hotel's €410 Christmas Eve dinner. Our Marbella Club review covers the rest of the hotel.

Puente Romano: €550, or €500 to €700 at COYA

Puente Romano runs several New Year's Eves at once. The 2025 gala in the Salón Andalucía, with langoustine carpaccio and oscietra caviar, lobster cream and Galician beef tenderloin, Ruinart, an Albariño and a Tinto Fino, was €550 a head, with a Dom Pérignon Vintage upgrade listed at €650. COYA's Peruvian menu, with A5 Kagoshima wagyu, started at €700 in food and drink packages, and COYA Club, the resort's dining-to-nightlife room, at €500. Our Puente Romano guide explains the layout.

La Sala, Puerto Banús: €290 or €140

At the other end, La Sala's festive page already lists 2026: a champagne cocktail and canapés, a choice of five starters, mains such as tournedos Rossini or turbot, and those bacon baguettes, for €290 a head plus a 10% service charge. The bar ticket is €140, with canapés and a free bar of wine, cava, beer, soft drinks and spirits (premium labels excluded) from 8pm to 11pm, then live acts and a DJ. Of the published menus we have seen, it is the best value in the port.

Taxis After Midnight: What to Pre-Book

Assume there is no taxi between half past midnight and 2am. Every gala, restaurant and bar empties at once and the app cars disappear with the taxis. Pre-book a driver with a fixed pick-up time, or choose a venue you can walk home from; on the Golden Mile that is often the deciding factor.

Book a Driver With a Fixed Pick-Up

A driver booked in November, with the pick-up time agreed in writing, is the only arrangement we trust at 00:45 on 1 January. Set the time 30 minutes later than you think, pick a meeting point away from the main entrance, since every gala empties through the same door, and give the driver's number to your companion. If the plan includes a club in Puerto Banús, book the second leg too: the 4am run back to the Golden Mile is the one people forget. Our transport guide covers the options.

Or Stay Where You Can Walk

Marbella Club and Puente Romano sit about half a kilometre apart on the same beach, 15 to 20 minutes on the seafront path, as our walk between the two describes. A room at either puts both galas, COYA Club and your bed within walking distance, which is the strongest argument for a Golden Mile hotel on 31 December. The same logic applies to the hotels and apartments behind the port in Puerto Banús, and to the central hotels near the old town bars.

What Is the Weather Like on New Year's Eve in Marbella?

Mild by day and cool at midnight. AEMET's 1991–2020 normals for Málaga airport give December an average high of 17.8°C and low of 9.1°C, with 5.6 days of rain in the month. The sun sets at about 18:15, so terraces and walks between venues are cold by the time of the grapes. Dress for the walk, not the ballroom.

Around Ten Degrees at Midnight

Expect something near 10°C at midnight on a clear night, colder by the water and warmer under a terrace heater. Rain on this coast comes in short, heavy bursts, and with 5.6 rain days in an average December the odds of a wet New Year's Eve are a little under one in five. On 1 January the sun rises at about 08:30, so the walk home from a club happens in the dark. Our winter guide covers the rest of the season.

Dress for the Walk, Not the Ballroom

Galas expect evening dress: a dark suit at the minimum, black tie where the invitation says so, and your companion will dress to whatever you tell us. The ballroom is warm and the terrace is not, and the walk to the car, the club queue and the beach fireworks all happen outdoors, in single figures by the early hours. Bring a coat you are happy to hand in at a cloakroom, and a jacket rather than a heavy coat if the night includes dancing.

New Year's Day: What Is Open on 1 January

Restaurants and hotel dining rooms, yes; most shops, no, since 1 January is a national public holiday. The day belongs to long lunches: Marbella Club served a New Year's Day buffet at its Beach Club from 1pm for €330 in 2026, and a sharing menu at El Patio for €150 before drinks. Plan the day around lunch.

Lunch Is the Event

The Marbella Club buffet opened with a glass of Belle Époque, and El Patio's menu ran from sea bream ceviche and roasted tiger prawns to a choice of sea bass or wagyu. La Sala in Puerto Banús has already announced New Year's Day 2027 with three live acts. Book lunch when you book dinner; nobody wants to be ringing restaurants at noon on the 1st. In 2027 New Year's Day falls on a Friday, so the holiday runs straight into a weekend, and we would plan Saturday 2 January like any busy Saturday.

From the 1st to Reyes

The festive season here runs to 6 January, when the Three Kings arrive; their parade is on the evening of the 5th. In between, Marbella is full of returning residents rather than tourists, the old town is at its best and tables are far easier than on the 31st. Our Christmas in Marbella guide covers Nochebuena, the lights and Reyes, and the old town by night covers where to walk after dinner.

Booking a Companion for New Year's Eve

It is the most requested night of our winter, and the price is the usual one, so book in November and treat two weeks as the minimum, because the companions run out before the date does. The right format is an overnight that spans dinner, the grapes and the club. Tell us the venue, buy two places, and the rest works like any evening.

Book in November, With a Deposit

Companions are asked for 31 December earlier than for any other winter date, and once one accepts she has turned the night down for everyone else. That is why a booking made in advance, New Year's Eve above all, carries a deposit of 25% of the total, paid by transfer or crypto, to her or to us; you pay her the balance at the start. An overnight can be changed or cancelled free until 48 hours before, and our deposit policy explains the rest.

Why an Overnight Fits the Night

Drinks at eight, dinner at nine, grapes at twelve, a club until three: that is seven hours before anyone mentions going home, well past the point where hourly rates make sense, since seven hours at €300 is €2,100 before anyone has asked for breakfast. An overnight booking of 10 to 12 hours, €3,000–€4,000 depending on the companion and the length, covers dinner, the party and breakfast on the 1st. The price is the same on 31 December as on any other night; what runs short is companions, and our seasonal rates post covers how demand moves through the year. A dinner date, a minimum of three hours and so from €900, only works if you plan to be home by one.

What to Tell Us

The venue and its dress code, whether you have bought two places (galas sell per head, and she needs her own seat), the driver arrangements and where the night ends. For a black-tie gala we suggest a VIP companion used to formal dinners. At a Golden Mile hotel she can meet you in the lobby bar at eight, like any other guest arriving for the gala; on a night when the lobby is full of people in evening dress, a guest meeting a guest is unremarkable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is New Year's Eve dinner in Marbella?

Published prices ranged from €140 for a Puerto Banús open-bar ticket and €290 for a set dinner at La Sala, both for 2026, to €550 for Puente Romano's gala and €1,270 at Marbella Club for 2025. Galas are prepaid and include wine, the grapes and music, but never transport.

What time do you eat the grapes in Spain?

At midnight exactly, one grape on each of the twelve strokes broadcast from the Puerta del Sol clock in Madrid. The four double chimes before them, the cuartos, are not part of it. Restaurants and galas provide the grapes, and seedless ones are far easier to finish in time.

Can you get a taxi on New Year's Eve in Marbella?

Before 11pm, usually. Between half past midnight and 2am, rarely, because every venue empties at once and ride-hailing cars vanish along with the taxis. Book a driver in advance with a fixed pick-up time, or stay somewhere you can walk home from, such as the Golden Mile hotels.

Is anything open in Marbella on New Year's Day?

Restaurants and hotel dining rooms are, most shops are not, since 1 January is a national holiday. The big hotels plan long lunches: Marbella Club's Beach Club buffet cost €330 on 1 January 2026. Book lunch at the same time as dinner and expect a slow, late start to the day.

How far ahead should I book a companion for New Year's Eve?

In November, and no less than two weeks ahead. It is the most requested winter night, the price is the usual one, and a booking made in advance carries a 25% deposit. An overnight booking suits the shape of the night, with drinks at eight, grapes at twelve and a club after that.

Planning Your New Year's Eve?

Send us the venue, the dress code, whether you have two places and where the night ends. We will confirm a companion for the whole evening, the overnight price and the 25% deposit, and help line up a driver if you have not booked one.
