- An event booking is a social performance — brief it like one: guest list, dress code, who you are, what the evening is for
- Lead time is longer than any other format: two weeks minimum, four for a wedding or a peak-August gala
- Dress code is the detail most clients under-specify and the one most likely to go wrong
- Agree the story in advance — how you met, what she does — and keep it simple and boring enough to hold
- Expect a deposit of 25–30%; an event companion turns down the highest-value night of her week to hold it
A wedding at a villa in Benahavís, a charity gala at a Golden Mile hotel, a dinner with four clients and their partners — these are not bookings in the ordinary sense. They are evenings where your companion spends four hours in conversation with people who will remember her, and where the entire success of the arrangement depends on preparation that happens days beforehand. Done well, nobody thinks about it twice. Done casually, it is the one format that genuinely can go wrong. An event booking in Marbella needs a proper brief — guest list, dress code, the nature of the occasion and an agreed backstory — plus two to four weeks' lead time and a companion specifically suited to formal social settings rather than simply available. Our event companions are a distinct group for that reason.
Why Event Bookings Are a Different Format
In a normal booking, your companion needs to be good company to you. At an event she needs to be good company to thirty people, several of whom will ask her direct questions, in a language that may not be her first, while dressed correctly for a code nobody wrote down. That is a genuinely different skill.
What the Evening Actually Asks
Sustained conversation with strangers, an ability to talk about something other than herself, comfort with silverware and seating plans, and the judgement to know when to be present and when to fade slightly into the background. Some companions do this exceptionally well and enjoy it. Others are wonderful across a dinner for two and would be miserable at a gala. We know which are which, which is the main thing you are buying when you book through an agency for an event.
Marbella has hosted an international social calendar since the 1950s, which is why the coast's event and wedding infrastructure is unusually deep for a town of its size.
Why You Cannot Substitute at Short Notice
An excellent dinner-date companion is not automatically an excellent wedding guest, and the difference only becomes visible on the night. This is the one format where "whoever is available" is the wrong approach even when it would work for any other booking — which is why the lead times below are longer than anywhere else in this business.
How Do You Brief an Event Booking?
Send five things: what the event is, where and when, the dress code, who else will be there, and what you want the evening to look like. That brief is the difference between a companion who fits the room and one who is technically present in it. It takes one message and it is the whole job.
The Occasion and the Room
A cousin's wedding is not a charity gala is not a client dinner. Tell us the register — celebratory, formal, professional — and roughly who is in the room: family, colleagues, strangers, a mixture. If there is anyone whose good opinion particularly matters, say so. Our Marbella galas post and dress code guide cover the main venue types on this coast.
Who Will Be There
Names are not necessary; roles are useful. "My business partner and his wife, two clients from Frankfurt, and about forty people I half know" tells us more than a guest list would. It particularly determines language — a German-speaking companion at a table of Frankfurt clients changes the evening entirely, and it is exactly the kind of thing we can arrange with three weeks' notice and cannot arrange with three days'.
What You Want the Evening to Be
Some clients want a companion who is warm and visible; others want someone poised and slightly reserved. Some want to dance; some want to leave at eleven. Say which. It sounds like an odd thing to specify in advance, but it is far easier to match than to correct, and no companion can read it from the room on the night.
Dress Codes: The Detail Most People Under-Specify
Marbella's dress codes are stricter than the climate suggests and looser than the invitation says. Tell us the venue by name and we will get it right — a beach-club wedding, a hotel gala and a Puerto Banús restaurant are three different wardrobes. Get this wrong and it is the only thing anyone notices.
What Each Setting Actually Means Here
| Occasion | In practice on this coast |
|---|---|
| Villa or beach-club wedding | Long dress, flat or block heel, cover for the evening breeze |
| Hotel charity gala | Full-length formal, understated jewellery |
| Business dinner | Elegant, unshowy, closer to corporate than cocktail |
| Puerto Banús restaurant | Cocktail; the coast dresses up more than visitors expect |
| Yacht or marina event | Resort formal, no stiletto heels on teak decks |
Name the Venue, Not the Code
"Smart casual" means five different things within two kilometres of the Golden Mile. If you tell us the property, we will know — this coast has a small number of significant venues and we have sent companions to most of them. The one universal: Marbella dresses up considerably more than a Mediterranean beach town suggests, and under-dressing is far more conspicuous than over-dressing.
Agreeing the Story
Decide in advance how you met and what she does, keep it simple, keep it boring, and make sure it survives a follow-up question. The best cover stories are the ones nobody has any reason to remember an hour later. Ten minutes of preparation solves the whole evening.
Boring Is the Objective
"We met through friends in Madrid, she works in design" is perfect: plausible, unmemorable, and it survives a second question without needing a third. Elaborate stories invite interest, and interest invites detail. Agree it by message beforehand rather than in the car, and agree what she does with enough substance that she can say two sentences about it comfortably.
Consistency Matters More Than Cleverness
The only real failure mode is two people telling slightly different versions across a room. Write it down. If you are attending with people you see regularly, use something you could sustain at a second event months later — clients who attend the coast's annual event circuit often book the same companion for the same occasion each year, which is the tidiest solution to the whole problem.
Lead Times, Rates and Deposits
Two weeks is the minimum for an event booking and four is comfortable for a wedding or an August gala. Expect a rate at the upper end of the dinner-date band or an overnight rate for a long evening, and a deposit of 25–30%. Book it when you book the table.
Why the Lead Time Is Longer
Three reasons: the pool of companions genuinely suited to a formal event is smaller than the roster; the wardrobe may need to be specific; and event dates cluster on exactly the peak weekends when everyone is busiest. A wedding on an August Saturday is competing with every other booking on the coast that night. Our lead times post maps the whole calendar.
How Events Are Priced
By duration, like any booking — but events run long. A wedding that starts at six and finishes at two is an eight-hour evening, which prices as an overnight rather than a dinner date and is cheaper that way than extending twice. Tell us the realistic end time rather than the one on the invitation. Our rate card has the bands.
The Deposit
25–30%, because an event booking takes the highest-value night of a companion's week out of her diary weeks in advance. It is agreed after the companion, date and total are all confirmed — never before — and it moves with the booking if the date changes. See our deposit policies post for the full mechanics.
On the Night
Arrive together, introduce her by name, and then behave exactly as you would with any partner at any event. The single most common mistake is over-management — checking on her, steering conversations, explaining her presence to people who had not wondered about it. Trust the brief and let the evening happen.
Introductions
By first name, warmly, without additional information. "This is Elena" is a complete introduction and asks for nothing further. If someone presses, the agreed story handles it in one sentence and the conversation moves on. What creates awkwardness is a client who volunteers an explanation nobody requested — it signals that there is something to explain.
Do Not Manage Her
You booked a companion who is good at this. Let her talk to people without you standing beside her, and do not check in every ten minutes. Equally, do not abandon her at a table for an hour while you work the room — the balance is exactly the one you would strike with a partner. Our booking etiquette post covers the wider conventions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I book an escort as a plus-one for a wedding in Marbella?
Yes, and it is one of the most common event bookings we arrange on this coast. It needs a proper brief — the venue, the dress code, who else will be there and an agreed story — plus around four weeks' notice, since weddings fall on the busiest weekends of the year.
How far in advance should I book an event companion?
Two weeks is the minimum and four is comfortable for a wedding or an August gala. The pool of companions genuinely suited to formal events is smaller than the full roster, the wardrobe may need to be specific, and event dates cluster on peak weekends.
What should I tell the agency about the event?
Five things: what the occasion is, where and when, the dress code or venue name, roughly who else will be there, and what you want the evening to look like. That brief is the difference between a companion who fits the room and one who is merely present.
Should we agree a story about how we met?
Yes, and keep it simple enough that it survives a follow-up question. Something like meeting through friends, with a plausible profession, is ideal — boring, consistent and unmemorable. Agree it by message beforehand rather than improvising it in the car.
How much does an event companion cost in Marbella?
It is priced by duration like any booking, but events run long. A wedding from six until two is an eight-hour evening, so it prices as an overnight rather than a dinner date — which is cheaper than extending twice. Expect a deposit of 25–30%.
