Puerto Banús fits more than 100 brands into a few hundred metres of quay, and the address tells you most of what you need: the front line faces the boats, the second line holds the quieter flagships, and the two ends of the port have brands of their own. Muelle de Ribera: The Front Line
The front line is where the restaurants are, and the shops between them sell to people who are already strolling. Gucci opens 11am to midnight in summer; Tom Ford, at 10am to 1am, keeps the latest summer hours on the quay. Rolex gives Joyería Ideal's address for enquiries, Joyería Ideal has its own shop on the same quay, and Bvlgari closes at 10.30pm in summer. The everyday names are here too, Sephora and KIKO until midnight, Sunglass Hut, Guess and Michael Kors, which is why this pavement is the busiest in the port from 8pm.
Calle Ribera: The Second Line
One block back, Calle Ribera is quieter and more serious: Hermès, Saint Laurent, Fendi, Loro Piana, Brunello Cucinelli and Moncler, with Versace, Carolina Herrera and Zimmermann among them. Hermès keeps 11am to midnight in summer and closes at 8pm in winter, when it lists no Sunday hours; Brunello Cucinelli also closes on winter Sundays, and IRO on every Sunday. Levante, the Dock of Honour and Poniente
The brands at the two ends are easy to miss on a first walk. Levante, on the eastern side, has Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Jimmy Choo; the Muelle de Honor, by the harbour mouth, has Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Tod's, Etro and Golden Goose; Poniente, to the west, has Moschino.
Levante: Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Jimmy Choo
Louis Vuitton is one of the late ones: 11am to 1am from Monday to Saturday and 11.30am to midnight on Sundays, falling to 11am–9pm in winter. Valentino opens 11am to midnight in summer and noon to 8pm in winter, and Jimmy Choo 11am to 11pm, with Sundays from 1pm. Pinko, Peserico and the homeware shop Côté Soleil complete the row and close at 8pm or 9pm even in summer.
The Dock of Honour and Poniente
The Muelle de Honor is where the largest yachts berth, and its shops face them: Dolce & Gabbana, with men's and women's collections, open 11am to 1am in summer; Giorgio Armani 11am–10pm all year; Tod's to midnight; Etro and Golden Goose to 11pm. The optician Soloptical is on the same quay. At Poniente, the western side, Moschino and the beachwear label MC2 Saint Barth stay open until 11pm and midnight in summer.
What Time Do the Shops Open in Puerto Banús?
Most brand stores open at 11am every day of the week. In summer many stay open until midnight and some until 1am; in winter most close between 8pm and 10pm. Sundays are normal trading days for almost every brand, and the long midday closure survives only in a few small independent shops.
Summer: Shop After Dinner
Summer hours turn shopping into an evening activity. Gucci, Saint Laurent, Dior, Loewe and Bottega Veneta stay open until midnight; Louis Vuitton (Monday to Saturday), Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana and Carolina Herrera until 1am, and Dior moves to 1am in August. Winter: Home by Nine
From late autumn the hours shorten and the stores warn that winter times can change. Celine and Zegna, which list a single timetable, keep 11am to 8.30pm and 11am to 8pm; Hermès, Valentino and Bottega Veneta close at 8pm, Gucci, Dior and Louis Vuitton at 9pm, Saint Laurent and Moncler at 10pm. Plan winter shopping for the afternoon, then dinner, rather than the other way round.
Sundays and the Midday Closure
Nearly every brand in the directory lists Sunday opening, often from noon or 1pm. The exceptions are worth knowing: Hermès and Brunello Cucinelli list no Sunday hours in winter, IRO closes every Sunday, Ruz Joyeros on Calle Ribera keeps weekday hours of 10am to 8pm, closes on Saturdays at 2pm and does not open on Sundays, and Pilma Travel, on the Dock of Honour, still closes from 3pm to 4pm. The old two-to-five siesta is now the exception here, not the rule.
How Does Tax-Free Shopping Work for Non-EU Visitors?
Residents of countries outside the EU can reclaim the 21% VAT on goods bought in Spain, with no minimum spend. The shop issues an electronic refund document, or DER, against your passport; you validate it at a DIVA kiosk when you leave the EU within three months, and the refund follows.
Who Qualifies, and Who Does Not
The Spanish Tax Agency limits the refund to people resident outside the EU, plus the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, buying occasionally for personal use or gifts. A passport proves residence; if yours does not state it, as with the UAE, bring a residence permit or similar. UK residents qualify, but the agency lists a UK passport holder living in Northern Ireland among its reasons for refusal. Services such as meals and hotels are excluded.
Four Steps From Till to Refund
- At the till, say you want a tax-free refund and show your passport; the shop issues the DER with the goods and the VAT listed.
- Leave the EU with the goods, unused, within three months of the purchase.
- At Málaga airport, scan the DER's barcode at the DIVA kiosk before checking the goods in; the stamping point works 24 hours. A green tick completes it, a red cross sends you to the customs desk.
- Claim the money from one of the 19 refund agents the tax agency authorises, less their commission, or send the stamped DER to the shop, which must refund the full VAT within fifteen days.
What Goes Wrong at the Airport
The agency asks travellers to allow at least three hours before a flight, and Málaga airport handled 26.8 million passengers in 2025, according to Aena, so the summer queues are real. If you connect through another EU country, the Spanish kiosk will not complete the process: you validate on paper where you finally leave the EU. El Corte Inglés and the Practical Shops
El Corte Inglés, with its Hipercor supermarket, stands on the landward side of Plaza Antonio Banderas, a few minutes from the front line, with its own customer car park and a taxi rank outside. El Corte Inglés's finance company is one of the 19 refund agents the Spanish Tax Agency authorises.
The Department Store
For anything the boutiques do not stock, the department store is the practical stop, and the Hipercor supermarket is the obvious place to stock a villa. The customer car park has underground and multi-storey levels, and the stop outside, Hipercor exterior, is on the Avanza urban bus network. Cosmetics, Sunglasses and Swimwear
The front line handles the forgotten items. Sephora, KIKO and Perfumería Julia sell cosmetics until midnight in summer; Sunglass Hut on the front line and Soloptical on the Dock of Honour cover eyewear. For swimwear, Vilebrequin on Muelle de Ribera stays open from 10am to midnight all year, and Bain de Mer sells from 10am to 10pm.
Watches and Jewellery: Where to Buy and How to Pay
Rolex, Bvlgari and Joyería Ideal are on the front line, Ruz Joyeros is on Calle Ribera, and Geneve sells watches and jewellery from 10.30am to 8pm. For a large purchase, pay by card in euros, and the VAT refund applies to watches as to anything else.
Where the Watches Are
The Rolex boutique on Muelle de Ribera, which gives Joyería Ideal's address for enquiries, opens 11am to 9pm every day; Joyería Ideal's own shop on the same quay keeps 11am to 10pm. Bvlgari sells jewellery, watches and perfume until 10.30pm in summer, and Ice Watch and APM Monaco cover the lighter end. Paying for a Large Purchase
Paying by card in euros avoids the dynamic currency conversion some terminals offer, which is usually the worse rate. A watch can run into a card's single-payment limit, so ask your bank to lift it before you travel, and keep the receipt together with the tax-free form. Ask for that form at the till, not afterwards, because the shop issues it with the goods. Hotels a Short Walk From the Shops
Three hotels put the shops within walking distance. Benabola Hotel & Apartments is in the port itself, on Calle Benabola; ME Marbella, the former Meliá Marbella Banús, is just east of the port; and the Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús, to the west, describes itself as a fifteen-minute walk from the centre of the port.
In the Port: Benabola
Benabola, at Calle Benabola 3, is the white block at the south-west corner of the port, about 400 metres in a straight line from Plaza Antonio Banderas. It rents hotel rooms, apartments and penthouses, has a parking service and the Sky Lounge on its roof, and bags go back to the room in minutes. The trade-off is the port's night-time noise in July and August.
Either Side: ME Marbella and the Guadalpín
ME Marbella reopened in July 2025 at kilometre 175 of the old coast road, east of the port, with 200 rooms. The Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús, on Calle Edgar Neville towards San Pedro, has closed three restaurants and its indoor car park temporarily, with 20% off direct bookings for arrivals until 31 October 2026. An Afternoon of Shopping With a Companion
Shopping is one of the easiest daytime bookings: a late afternoon on the quays, a drink at sunset and dinner after. Puerto Banús outcalls are €300 an hour in 2026 and a dinner date, a minimum of three hours, starts at €900, so an afternoon rolling into dinner is billed on the hourly rate.
The Format That Works
Start at 6pm in summer: two hours of shops, a drink on the front line at eight, dinner at ten. That is six hours, €1,800 at €300 an hour; our dinner-date companions are used to the afternoon as well as the table.
