Real Club de Golf Las Brisas: Nueva Andalucía's Championship Course

Key Takeaways:
  • Las Brisas was founded by José Banús in 1968 as Club de Golf Nueva Andalucía, opened with Puerto Banús in 1970 and took the Royal prefix in 1995
  • The par-72 Robert Trent Jones Sr layout was rebuilt by Kyle Phillips in 2015 and measures 6,464 metres from the back tees
  • It hosted the 1970 Spanish Open, the World Cup in 1973 and 1989, and the Women's Spanish Open in 2023
  • Under the club's own 2026 rules a guest plays only with a member, carries a handicap certificate and is limited to 8 rounds a year
  • The club sits on Calle Londres, inside Marbella municipality, so an evening companion booking afterwards follows the normal 1-hour minimum

The barrier on Calle Londres is the first sign that Las Brisas does things its own way. Most clients who ask us about the course have played Los Naranjos or a public course down the coast and assume a green fee works the same here. It does not. The club sits at the bottom of Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley, the district we cover on our Nueva Andalucía escorts page, and it has run as a private members' club since 1981. Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is a 1968 Robert Trent Jones Sr course, rebuilt by Kyle Phillips in 2015, and in 2026 a visitor plays it only as the guest of a member, with a handicap certificate.

Below: the layout, the tournaments, the rules a guest signs up to, the timing of a round, and how the evening after it fits with the rest of our Marbella escorts guide.

What Is Real Club de Golf Las Brisas?

Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is an 18-hole, par-72 private members' club in Nueva Andalucía, Marbella. José Banús founded it in 1968 as Club de Golf Nueva Andalucía, it opened officially in 1970 alongside Puerto Banús, and King Juan Carlos I granted it the Royal prefix on 23 May 1995. Today it has about 1,100 members from thirty nationalities.

From Club de Golf Nueva Andalucía to the Royal Prefix

The name has changed twice; the site has not. Banús built the course as the sporting centrepiece of his Nueva Andalucía development and served as the club's first president until 1981, the year it became a members' club. The 1970 inauguration gala, held the year the port opened, brought Prince Rainier, Princess Grace of Monaco and the Aga Khan, with a young Julio Iglesias singing. Don Juan de Borbón, the King's father, accepted the honorary presidency for life and founded a competition that still carries his name. The Royal prefix followed in 1995, which is why Spaniards call it the Real Club. The club's own history page sets out the timeline and the guest list.

1,100 Members, a Share and a €35,000 Entry Fee

Membership is tied to ownership. An applicant buys a share in Campogolf S.A., the company behind the club, then submits a form signed by two active members, a handicap certificate from his home club, a passport copy and two photographs. The application is posted on the club notice board for at least 15 days before the board decides. The entry fee is currently €35,000 and the 2026 annual subscription is €4,000; the handicap limit for applicants is 24 for men and 32 for women. For a visitor it explains one thing: the tee sheet belongs to the members.

The Robert Trent Jones Sr Layout and the 2015 Kyle Phillips Rebuild

Robert Trent Jones Sr designed Las Brisas in 1968, straight after Sotogrande and before Los Naranjos and Valderrama. He built ten artificial lakes fed by two streams, raised and heavily bunkered greens and Bermuda grass fairways. Kyle Phillips reconstructed the course in 2015, keeping the original routing and character. The scorecard reads par 72, 36 out and 36 home.

Ten Lakes, Raised Greens and Bermuda Fairways

Water touches a large part of the round, and most greens sit above the fairway behind bunkers, so a short approach finishes in sand or rolls back off the front. Trent Jones chose Bermuda grass for the fairways and Penncross bent for the greens, both unusual in 1960s Europe. The stroke index puts the 2nd as the hardest hole and the 16th, a par 3, as the easiest. The Englishman Gerald Huggan, who had just come back from Kenya, planted the arboretum: Cape chestnut, Indian laurel, Mysore fig, Australian whistling pine and palms, so the course reads as a botanical garden with flags in it.

The Scorecard, Tee by Tee

The club measures in metres to the centre of the green. The 65 tees are used only by prior arrangement with the management; most visiting men play the 61 or 59 markers.

TeeLengthCourse rating / slope
65 (by arrangement)6,464 m74.8 / 149
616,115 m73.3 / 145
595,922 m71.9 / 141 (men)
575,650 m70.6 / 135 (men)
525,165 m67.6 (men)

A slope of 149 from the back is close to the top of the scale. Pick a tee one step forward of your habit. The 2015 work clearly landed: the club's course page cites rankings of 62nd in Continental Europe and 9th in Spain in Top 100 Golf Courses' 2026 lists.

Two World Cups, a Spanish Open and a Women's Spanish Open

Las Brisas hosted the International Spanish Open in 1970, the World Cup and the Spanish Amateur Open in 1973, the World Cup again in 1989 and the Women's Spanish Open in 2023. Johnny Miller's 65 in 1973 still stands as the men's course record.

Nicklaus and Miller in 1973, Grady and Fowler in 1989

The 1973 World Cup brought Jack Nicklaus and Johnny Miller for the United States, and they won it; Miller's 65 remains the men's record. In 1989 the World Cup came back and Australia took it, with Peter Fowler and Wayne Grady, while José María Cañizares and José María Olazábal finished runners-up for Spain. The club's first professional, Sebastián de Miguel, played in twelve World Cups for Spain and won three Spanish Opens.

Course Records and the 2023 Women's Open

The ladies' record of 67 belongs to the Spaniard Cristina Marsans. The latest professional event was the 2023 Women's Spanish Open, won by India's Aditi Ashok, and the club says Ladies European Tour players voted it the best-presented course of that season. For a guest that explains the strictness on buggies, divots and pace: conditioning comes first, and members' competition mornings close the tee to visitors.

Can a Non-Member Play Las Brisas in 2026?

Only as a member's guest. The club's published rules say guests are permitted on the course only in the company of a member, a member may bring three guests in mid and low season and one in high season, and any non-member is limited to eight rounds a year with a current handicap certificate. There is no open online tee sheet for visitors.

The Guest Rules, in the Club's Own Terms

  • A guest plays only in the company of a member; the member books through the caddie master.
  • Three guests per member at a time in mid and low season, one in high season.
  • Non-members are limited to eight games a year; spouses and partners of members to twelve.
  • Every playing guest presents a current handicap certificate; the membership limit of 24 for men is a fair guide to the standard expected.
  • Report to the starter 10 minutes before your time. Flights are made up as four-balls, so a two-ball will be paired.
  • Outside club competitions, only match play and stableford are allowed, and a round should take no more than four hours.

The full list, with the downloadable rules, is on the club information page.

How Visitors Actually Get a Round

In practice there are three routes. The best is a friend, business contact or villa owner who is a member and will invite you and play with you. The second is to ask: the club's history page says its private status allows very few visitor green fees, so write to reception well ahead, give your home club and handicap, and accept the answer. The club's reciprocal arrangements with Aloha, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande and Real Club de Sevilla run the other way: they are for Las Brisas members playing elsewhere, not for visitors coming in. The club does not publish a visitor green-fee price, so treat any figure on a booking website as out of date until reception confirms it.

Dress Code, Phones and What to Pack for Las Brisas

Golf clothing only on the course: no jeans, swimwear, tennis or gym kit, and for men no cargo or capri trousers and no collarless or sleeveless shirts. Soft spikes are compulsory, flip-flops are banned anywhere on the premises, and phone calls are allowed only at the end of the clubhouse terrace. The pro shop sells the fix for most mistakes.

What to Wear, Off the Course as Well

Pack a collared shirt, tailored golf trousers or shorts and soft-spiked shoes, and that covers the course. Jeans are acceptable in the clubhouse only if they are neat, one uniform colour and free of rips or fraying, which rules out most of what is sold in Puerto Banús. Flip-flops are not allowed anywhere on the premises; women may wear sandals. Anyone breaking the rules may be asked to leave, and as a guest you are there on your host's name, so the cost of a mistake lands on him.

2026 Hire Rates and Opening Hours

The club publishes its 2026 extras: buggy hire €40, electric trolley €25, a pull trolley free and club hire €50. Buggies stay off tees and green surrounds, and no more than two are allowed in a flight. Reception and the pro shop open at 07:45 and close at 20:00 in summer and 19:00 in winter; the locker room stays open to 21:00 in summer. A green fee includes the restaurant, cafeteria, locker room and sauna, and there is a chiringuito on the course for the turn; lunch on the clubhouse terrace after the round is the normal routine.

Where Las Brisas Is and When to Play

The club is on Calle Londres at the lower end of Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley, roughly 3 km inland from the Puerto Banús marina and a short taxi ride from it. Spring and autumn are high season, when members may bring only one guest; summer rounds are best started early. Plan the day around the tee time, not the other way round.

Getting There From the Port and the Old Town

Las Brisas is the lowest of the valley's three clubs, below Los Naranjos and Aloha, and the closest to the A-7 and the port. From Puerto Banús it is usually under ten minutes by taxi; from Marbella old town allow 15 to 20 minutes, more at the evening rush; Málaga airport is about an hour. Give the driver "Las Brisas, Calle Londres". Our guide to getting around Marbella without a car covers booking a taxi back, which matters if you finish at 14:00 in August. For the valley's other courses, villas and restaurants, see our Nueva Andalucía villa guide.

Best Months, and the High-Season Catch

Most golfers want March to May and late September to November: mild, dry and green. That is exactly when demand from members is highest and when, under the club's rules, a member can bring only one guest. Winter is quieter, and a host can bring three guests. In July and August, tee off before 09:00 or accept a hot back nine. Many of the valley's visitors fly in, and Málaga airport handled 26.76 million passengers in 2025, 6.15 million of them on British routes, according to Aena; arrive a day before the round, not the morning of it.

After the Round: Booking a Marbella Escort for Dinner in Nueva Andalucía

Keep the club and the evening separate. Finish the round, shower, and meet your companion at your villa, hotel or a restaurant. Las Brisas is inside Marbella municipality, so the 1-hour minimum applies, at €300 an hour, and she usually arrives 25 to 30 minutes after we confirm. A dinner date is the format most golfers choose.

Where to Meet, and Where Not To

Not in the clubhouse. A guest at Las Brisas is there on a member's name, the bar mid-afternoon is full of people who know him, and nothing about the club's purpose involves our clients' private lives. The villa or hotel works best: finish at the club, take a taxi home, and she arrives once you have changed. If you would rather meet over dinner, choose a restaurant in the lower valley or the port; our list of restaurants for a date is a good start. Tell us the time and place; she will meet you there. For a later night, Casino Marbella is down in the lower valley; for a house full of friends, read our villa party planning guide first.

Timing Around a Tee Time, and What It Costs

A four-hour round from 09:30 ends around 13:30, lunch takes you past 15:00, and a 20:30 dinner leaves time for a rest. Within Marbella she usually arrives 25 to 30 minutes after confirmation, and you pay her taxi to the booking. One hour is €300 and two hours €600; a dinner date runs at least three hours, so from €900, and an overnight is €3,000–€4,000 depending on the companion and length. There is no weekend or high-season premium.

Payment, Changes and the Golf Question

Payment goes to the companion before the booking starts, in cash, by bank transfer or in crypto; we do not take cards, and our page on how payment works sets out the detail. Bookings made in advance carry a 25% deposit. A dinner date can be changed or cancelled free until 24 hours before; the cancellation guide covers the rest. Some clients ask about a companion on the course. We do not promise that; if it matters, ask us whether a companion who plays is free that week, and remember that at Las Brisas it is the member, not you, who decides who his guests are.
