The town hall's tourism site lists it among 17 rooftop terraces, and it is the only one trading as a sky lounge. It serves drinks in the evenings, with sea and marina views.

The Benabola Rooftop, Briefly

The hotel's Sky Lounge page describes a rooftop terrace serving its most popular cocktails and drinks in the evenings, with views of the Mediterranean and Puerto Banús, and invites visitors to come and find a table. The page was last revised in January 2026, and its drinks menu was live on 5 October. If you drive, the hotel gives two hours' free parking: take the car-park ticket and the parking pass to the front desk before you leave. Four Rules That Shape the Visit

• No reservations. Tables go first come, first served.
• A minimum spend applies. The hotel does not publish the figure, so ask when you sit down.
• Cocktails stop at 22:00. After that it is spirits, wine and beer.
• Hours change with the season. The hotel says to check with the Sky Lounge team nearer the date, or on its Google profile.

Taken together, the rules reward an early arrival: 20:00 to 20:30 in summer gets a table, a cocktail and the sunset, and leaves time to walk to a 22:00 dinner.

What Does a Drink Cost at the Sky Lounge?

Less than you might expect on a Banús roof. On the menu live in October 2026, cocktails cost €12 to €18, a glass of wine €8, a beer €8, most spirits €14 to €21 a glass and bottles €150 to €210. The menu warns that prices can change during special events.

The cheapest cocktails are the Aperol Spritz and the Negroni at €12; a Mojito, Cosmopolitan or Piña Colada is €16; a Margarita, Espresso Martini or Pornstar Martini €18. Prosecco is €10 a glass and €50 a bottle, Veuve Clicquot Brut €150 and Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé €190. Soft drinks and still water are €5 and an espresso €3.50. Two cocktails each for a couple come to about €64 at €16 a drink, which is why this is our usual first stop rather than a club table.

When to Go: Sunset Times and the 22:00 Cut-Off

Time the drink to the sunset and the cocktail list. In Marbella the sun sets at about 21:39 in mid-June, 21:12 in mid-August, 20:29 in mid-September and 19:44 in mid-October, before the clocks change. With cocktails ending at 22:00 and no bookings, arrive about an hour before sunset.

Times are calculated for central Marbella on the 15th of each month; Puerto Banús is within a minute of them. The light lasts longer than the sun: civil twilight adds about 31 minutes after sunset in June and 26 in October, and that half-hour is when the roofs look their best.

Why 20:30 Beats 21:30

Spanish dinner starts at 21:30 or 22:00, so the instinct is to have the drink at 21:30. At the Sky Lounge that leaves half an hour of cocktails, a hunt for a table and, in August, a sunset already gone. Arrive at 20:00 to 20:30 in summer, order before the cut-off and walk to dinner. In winter the sun is down by 18:30 and hotel bars shorten their hours: INE counted 85 hotels open in Marbella in October 2025 and only 54 in January 2026.

Rooftop Alternatives Open in 2026

If the Sky Lounge is full or closed, four verified alternatives cover most evenings: Belvue on the ninth floor of the Amàre in town, open daily from 18:00 to 01:00 and bookable; the 360 Blue Sky Bar at the Óbal Hotel; La Fonda Sky Bar in the old town; and Terral Club on Avenida Ricardo Soriano.

Belvue: The One You Can Book

Belvue sits on the ninth floor of Amàre Beach Hotel Marbella, on the seafront promenade, and the hotel confirms it is open to non-residents: take the lifts on the left of the lobby. It opens Monday to Sunday from 18:00 to 01:00, subject to change, takes table bookings online and runs DJs and live music, with a cocktail list created by the Argentine bartender Diego Cabrera. The hotel promises a 360-degree view of mountains and sea, with Gibraltar and Africa on the horizon on clear evenings.

Óbal, La Fonda and Terral

The Óbal Hotel's 360 Blue Sky Bar, on Avenida Ramón y Cajal, is a rooftop of more than 400 square metres with cocktails and a pool. La Fonda Heritage, on Plaza Santo Cristo in the old town, serves champagne cocktails, oysters and seafood on its sky bar, looking over the old town's roofs and a short walk from the Plaza de los Naranjos. Terral Club, on the eighth floor at Avenida Ricardo Soriano 19, opens from 12:00 Tuesday to Thursday and from 16:00 on Friday and Saturday. All three appear on the town hall's rooftop list.

After Dark: The Club Rooftops

Two venues on the town's list are clubs rather than bars. Pangea, on the terrace of the Club de Mar building on the Muelle de Honor, ran its 2026 season from 24 April to 26 September, with bottles from €330. Tibu, on Plaza Antonio Banderas, has an open-air terrace and an indoor room and lists itself as open every night. Neither is a pre-dinner stop; both are where a rooftop evening can end. What to Wear, and How Discreet Is a Hotel Roof?

Neither the Sky Lounge nor Belvue publishes a dress code, so dress for where you are going next, which is dinner. Pangea, a club rather than a bar, does publish one: smart and elegant, no sportswear. A hotel's rooftop bar is a public bar on private premises, and a visitor there is a guest of the bar.

Dress for Dinner, Not the Beach

For men, chinos or linen trousers, a shirt and closed shoes or smart loafers; for women, a dress or tailored trousers, with block heels rather than stilettos where the terrace is decked, and a light layer for the walk to dinner after sunset in April, May and October. Discretion on a Hotel Roof

Spain's guest-registration rules under Royal Decree 933/2021 apply to people who stay at a hotel, not to visitors who have a drink and leave, so meeting a companion at Belvue or the Sky Lounge involves no front-desk formality at all. Building the Evening From the Roof

A rooftop drink at 20:30, dinner at 22:00 and a decision at midnight is the standard Marbella first evening. From the Sky Lounge, dinner is a short walk round the port; from Belvue, the hotel says the centre is five minutes on foot. A car is only needed when dinner is somewhere else.

From the Sky Lounge: Dinner in the Port

From the Benabola, the port's restaurants are a few minutes' walk along the quay, and the hotel's two free parking hours cover the drink if you came by car. From Belvue or the Old Town Rooftops

From Belvue or La Fonda, dinner in the old town needs no car at all: the Plaza de los Naranjos is about a kilometre from the Amàre, a 12-minute walk, and La Fonda is already in the old town. Which Format, Which Rooftop

For a first evening we suggest a dinner-date booking: she meets you on the roof, you walk to dinner together, and the booking ends around midnight unless you extend it. What to Tell Us

The rooftop and the time, the restaurant and its booking, and whether the night continues after dinner. Because the Sky Lounge takes no reservations, tell us your fallback if it is full; Belvue can be booked and is ten to fifteen minutes away by taxi.
