Sitting on a south-facing terrace, the sun goes down to your right, over the land toward Gibraltar, rather than into the water ahead of you. Where to Go

The beaches west of Estepona for the clearest westward view, or the Artola dunes at the eastern end of Marbella for the most atmospheric one — boardwalks, a 16th-century watchtower and almost nobody there. Both are free and both beat a terrace on a good evening.
