A sunset party on this coast is a DJ set timed to the last two hours of daylight, on the sand or on a roof, and in 2026 it was mostly a Sunday ritual. The catch is that the big day clubs close before a summer sunset: Nikki Beach at 19:00, Ocean Club at 21:00, with the sun setting at about 21:39 in mid-June. It is one of the evenings clients most often ask our agency to plan. On the Costa del Sol in 2026 the sunset sessions ran at La Plage Casanis on Sundays from June to early October, on Pangea's Puerto Banús rooftop on Sundays from May to September, and nightly at The Point's fire pits, with cocktails from about €23.

What Counts as a Sunset Party Here?
A DJ-led session that starts in daylight and peaks as the light goes, usually on a Sunday, where the music rises with the sunset rather than after it. On this coast that means a beach venue open past dark or a rooftop, because most day clubs shut before the sun goes down.
Why the Famous Day Clubs Miss It
Nikki Beach Marbella runs from 12:00 to 19:00 and Ocean Club from 11:00 to 21:00, according to their own 2026 pages. In mid-June the sun sets at about 21:39 and in mid-August at 21:12, so both empty in daylight for most of the season. Their big nights are day parties, and the season calendar is in our beach club calendar. The exception is a special event: Ocean Club's 2026 opening party on 1 May ran from 18:00 to midnight, straight through a 21:07 sunset.
Three Formats That Work
- On the sand: a beach club that keeps going after dark, with guest DJs booked for the sunset hour. La Plage Casanis is the clearest example.
- On a roof: a terrace above the town or the port, where the music starts before dusk and runs late. Pangea's Sunday sessions were the 2026 version.
- The all-day venue: a beach restaurant that simply stays open, such as The Point, which sets out cushions and fire pits on the sand as the sun drops.
Where Does the Sun Actually Set?
Over land, for most of the year. The coast faces south and runs west-south-west towards Estepona, so from late January to mid-November the sun goes down over the land to the west and north-west. Calculated for Marbella, it sets over the sea horizon only from about 16 November to 27 January.
Summer: The Light on the Water
At the June solstice the sun sets about 300 degrees round the compass, well to the right of the coastline, which runs towards Estepona on a bearing of about 247 degrees. So a summer sunset session is about the sky turning orange over the sea and the light on the water, not the sun dropping into it. Winter: Into the Sea Towards Gibraltar
From mid-November the setting point moves south of that coastline bearing, reaching about 241 degrees at the winter solstice, so from a Marbella beach the sun sets into the sea towards Estepona and Gibraltar until late January. It also sets early: about 18:12 in mid-November and 18:05 in mid-December. Sunset Times and When to Arrive
Calculated for Marbella on the 15th of each month, the sun sets at 20:53 in April, 21:18 in May, 21:39 in June, 21:38 in July, 21:12 in August, 20:29 in September and 19:44 in October. Civil twilight adds roughly half an hour. Arrive an hour to an hour and a half before sunset for a bed or a table.
The Arrival Window
Plan around the last two hours of light: in July that means about 19:30 to 21:40, and in September 18:30 to 20:30. Arrive before the DJ, not with them: a bed or a good table goes early on a Sunday with a big name, and civil twilight, about 31 minutes in June and 26 in October, is the part worth being seated for. Clocks go back on 25 October, after which the sun is down by about 18:30.
Why Sunday
The sunset session is the coast's Sunday institution because it fits the weekend: a late lunch, the session, an early night before Monday flights. In 2026 both La Plage Casanis and Pangea put their sunset programmes on Sundays, and Pangea's included a Sunday on each UK bank-holiday weekend, with R&B Lovers specials on 24 May and 30 August. Where the 2026 Sunset Sessions Ran
Three venues carried the format in 2026: La Plage Casanis on Playa Real de Zaragoza in East Marbella, Pangea's rooftop in Puerto Banús, and The Point on Playa El Pinillo. Ocean Club's opening party crossed sunset once; Nikki Beach closes at 19:00. The table compares them.

La Plage Casanis: The Sunday Sunset Ritual
The Sunday Sunset Ritual runs every Sunday, and in 2026 it booked a guest DJ for each date from 14 June to 4 October, among them Amémé, Adriatique, Bora Uzer and DJ Tennis, with Liva K returning on 1 November. From 17 June to 26 August a second weekly night, I ♥ Wed, brought names such as Vintage Culture, Seth Troxler, Pawsa and Joseph Capriati. The club is at Urbanización Golden Beach, about 10 km east of Marbella's old town by road.
Pangea's Roof and The Point's Fire Pits
Pangea's Sunday nights were Afro House from sunset, with fire performers: Solstice Sundays in May and September and Nueva Soul from 31 May to 23 August, before the season closed on 26 September, as our Pangea guide sets out. The Point, on Playa El Pinillo, is the quieter option: open every day from 09:00 to 23:00, with cushions and fire pits on the sand at sunset, DJ sets and dinner. Its beach and pool facilities are for restaurant customers.
What Does a Sunset Party Cost?
Less than a club night unless you take a table. On the 2026 menus a cocktail costs €23 on the sand at La Plage Casanis, VAT included, and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot €145 there; Pangea's cheapest bottle is €330 on a standard night. Big-name dates and opening parties sell tickets in advance.
A Couple's Evening, Priced
At La Plage Casanis, two cocktails each come to €92, and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot to share is €145; most cocktails there are €23, the yuzu margarita €25 and alcohol-free cocktails €20. On Pangea's roof the minimum is a bottle, from €330 for Moët on a standard night. For comparison, Ocean Club's cocktails cost €22 to €26 and its opening-party entry was €250 a head. Add the taxi: Sunday is charged on Marbella's weekend tariff, €4.64 plus €1.41 a kilometre.
Tickets, Refunds and the Weather
Read the terms before you prepay. Pangea's tickets, packages and deposits are non-refundable, with a credit if weather stops a night; Ocean Club refunded opening-party tickets only if bad weather postponed the event by more than 24 hours; The Point takes payment at the venue and lets you cancel up to 24 hours ahead. If you are in town for a single Sunday, a venue that lets you pay on the day is the safer choice.
After the Sun Goes Down: Getting Home and the Second Act
Plan the move before you arrive. La Plage Casanis is about 10 km from Marbella's old town and 20 km from Puerto Banús by road, roughly €19 and €33 on the weekend meter. Pangea is a short walk from Tibu. The Point serves dinner until 23:00, so it can be the whole evening.
From East Marbella Back to Town
The eastern venues are the furthest from where most visitors sleep, and on a Sunday evening every table leaves at once. Book the car for the end of the DJ set, not after it. From Casanis the drive to the old town takes about 13 minutes and to Puerto Banús about 18 in free-flowing traffic. Dinner, or a Club
A sunset session ends with an appetite, and the obvious second act is dinner. From Pangea, the port's restaurants are a few minutes' walk away and Tibu, which lists itself as open every night, about 600 metres, and our late-night food guide covers what is open after midnight. From the beach clubs, a 22:00 dinner in the old town works well. A Sunday-night club is optional: few people want both a sunset and a 05:00 finish.
Booking a Companion for a Sunset Evening
A sunset session plus dinner runs from about 19:00 to midnight, five hours, which suits a dinner-date booking extended by two hours, or a girlfriend-experience evening billed by the hour. The price is €300 an hour on a Sunday or in July and August as on any other day.
Which Booking Fits
A dinner-date booking, a minimum of three hours and so from €900, is enough for the last hour of the session and dinner.
