- Ten hotels inside the Marbella municipality trade as five-stars in 2026, and an eleventh, Gran Meliá Don Pepe, has been closed for a refit since October 2025.
- Puente Romano, Gran Meliá Don Pepe and Los Monteros carry the Gran Lujo qualifier on the Junta de Andalucía's tourism register.
- Leaving aside the troubled Guadalpin Banús, Tripadvisor's standard-room bands run from €236 a night at Kimpton Los Monteros to €1,780 at the Marbella Club.
- Three names are new since 2025: Kimpton Los Monteros, Gran Marbella Resort (the old Vincci Estrella del Mar) and ME Marbella (the old Meliá Marbella Banús).
Filter Tripadvisor for five-star hotels in Marbella and you get 22 results, villa complexes and a timeshare resort among them. The regional register gives a shorter list, and it is the one our concierge desk uses when a client asks where to stay before asking anything else of our escort agency in Marbella. Inside the Marbella municipality, ten hotels trade as five-stars in 2026: the Marbella Club, Puente Romano, Nobu and Boho Club on the Golden Mile; El Fuerte in town; ME Marbella and Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banús at Puerto Banús; and Kimpton Los Monteros, Don Carlos and Gran Marbella in the east. An eleventh, Gran Meliá Don Pepe, is closed for a refit.
Each is checked, priced and judged below, then the nearest five-stars over the boundary. Our Marbella escorts guide covers the companion side.
How Many Five-Star Hotels Are There in Marbella?
Ten hotels in the Marbella municipality trade as five-stars in 2026, and an eleventh, Gran Meliá Don Pepe, is shut for a refit. Four of the ten stand on the Golden Mile, one in the town centre, two at Puerto Banús and three in East Marbella. San Pedro de Alcántara has none: its golf hotels in Guadalmina, Barceló Marbella among them, are four-stars.
The Register Versus the Booking Sites
We counted hotels only, and only where the Junta de Andalucía's tourism register or the hotel itself confirms the category; booking sites hand out stars more freely. Two calls needed judgement. Boho Club classifies itself as a five-star boutique hotel, and the Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banús is a five-star on paper with real problems in practice.
La Fonda, the 20-room Relais & Châteaux house on the old town's Plaza del Santo Cristo, is sold as a five-star online, but we could not confirm its category on the register. It gets a full entry in our boutique hotels in Marbella guide instead.
Gran Lujo, and What Summer Costs
Andalusia adds the qualifier Gran Lujo to five-stars that meet a further set of standards. Inside Marbella, Puente Romano, Los Monteros and the closed Gran Meliá Don Pepe carry it on the register; just outside, Anantara Villa Padierna, Finca Cortesín, Elba Estepona, Grand Hotel Las Dunas and La Zambra do too.
Rates have climbed fast. Marbella's hotels averaged €416.22 per occupied room in July 2026, 22% more than a year earlier, according to INE, Spain's statistics office. That average covers every category, so a five-star in high summer costs well above it.
The Golden Mile Five-Stars, Hotel by Hotel
Four open five-stars stand on the Golden Mile between the town and Puerto Banús. The Marbella Club and Puente Romano are the originals, Nobu sits inside Puente Romano and Boho Club is the 40-room house set back from the sand. Gran Meliá Don Pepe, the beachfront block nearest town, is closed for a refit.
Marbella Club and Puente Romano: The Originals
The Marbella Club opened in 1954 with 20 bedrooms in Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe's farmhouse. It now has about 130 rooms, suites and villas in gardens that run down to the beach, and its own 18-hole course, completed in 1999. Verdict: the quietest of the big names and the dearest, at €465 to €1,780. Our Marbella Club review breaks down what that buys.
Puente Romano, 500 metres west, went up as apartments in 1974 and became a hotel in 1979. About 160 suites fill its whitewashed village, with more than 20 restaurants and bars and a Six Senses spa. Verdict: the social one, Gran Lujo on the register. Our Puente Romano insider guide has the detail.
Nobu, Boho Club and the Closed Don Pepe
Nobu Hotel Marbella opened inside Puente Romano in 2018; sources put it at anything from 49 to about 100 rooms. Its pool is adults-only, but the hotel takes families. Band: €355 to €1,288; our Nobu Hotel Marbella guide covers it. Gran Meliá Don Pepe, a 194-room Gran Lujo block with direct beach access, closed in October 2025 for a full refurbishment. The hotel told guests it hoped to reopen in November 2026; treat that as provisional and do not plan a stay around it.
Boho Club has 40 rooms and bungalows in 25,000 square metres of gardens, on land that held a Swedish rest centre from 1968, five minutes' walk from the beach. Band: €243 to €822. Verdict: the best-value five-star on the Mile, if you can live without sand at the door.
Town Centre and Puerto Banús: El Fuerte, ME and Guadalpin
El Fuerte is the only five-star in the town centre: 266 rooms on the beach, five minutes' walk from the old town. Puerto Banús has two: ME Marbella, the renovated Meliá Marbella Banús, and the Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banús, caught in an ownership dispute since July 2024. One of them we would not book this year.
El Fuerte Marbella: A 1957 Hotel, a 2023 Five-Star
El Fuerte opened in 1957 and reopened in June 2023 as a five-star after an 18-month refit costing €31 million, according to Marbella town hall. The Chilean designer Jaime Beriestain did the interiors, the beach is directly in front and a Selected tier adds a private lounge. Band: €302 to €764. Verdict: the five-star for clients who want to walk to dinner in the old town and back without calling a taxi.
ME Marbella, and the Guadalpin Problem
ME Marbella is the old Meliá Marbella Banús, registered since 1977, which reopened under Meliá's ME brand in July 2025 after a full renovation: 200 rooms, an adults-only pool area, the sand about 50 metres away and the port's bars a kilometre west. Band: €278 to €825. Verdict: the five-star for Puerto Banús on foot.
The Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banús, 181 rooms on the beach, is the cautionary tale. A Málaga commercial court ordered its common areas sealed in July 2024 during an ownership dispute, and 2026 guest reviews still describe closed restaurants, taped-off areas and breakfast served in reception. Its €131 to €477 band is the lowest here for a reason. Verdict: skip it until the dispute is settled.
East Marbella: Kimpton Los Monteros, Don Carlos and Gran Marbella
East Marbella's three five-stars have all been reworked since 2025. Kimpton Los Monteros reopened in February 2025, Gran Marbella replaced the Vincci Estrella del Mar in July 2025 and Don Carlos finished a full renovation the same year. The troubled Guadalpin aside, they are the cheapest five-star nights in the municipality. Budget for a car or taxi most evenings.
Kimpton Los Monteros: 1962 Icon, 2025 Reboot
Los Monteros opened in 1962 and reopened on 27 February 2025 as Kimpton Los Monteros, with 195 rooms including 60 suites, according to IHG's launch release. El Español put the renovation at €14 million. It is still registered Gran Lujo, stands about 500 metres from the sea and runs a buggy to the La Cabane beach club; the Escondido rooftop has an infinity pool. Band: €236 to €593. Verdict: the best-value Gran Lujo in Marbella.
Don Carlos Marbella: The 1969 Hilton, Redone
Don Carlos opened in 1969 as the Marbella Hilton, a tower raised on concrete pillars at Las Chapas, and Jaime Beriestain finished its full renovation in 2025. It has 284 rooms and suites plus 24 residences, a shoreline shared with Nikki Beach (there since 2003) and a Rafa Nadal tennis centre. Oasis, beside the main building, is its wellness wing for adults. Band: €242 to €645. Verdict: the family and sport pick of the east.
Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club: The Former Vincci
The Vincci Selección Estrella del Mar opened at Real de Zaragoza in 2008. Refitted and renamed, it reopened in July 2025 as Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club, run by Iconic Luxury Hotels, the British group behind Cliveden and Chewton Glen. It has 125 rooms and 10 suites, a Champneys spa and the Amù Beach Club on the sand. Band: €245 to €610. Verdict: the calmest beach five-star in the municipality.
Every Five-Star Hotel in Marbella Compared
The table sets all eleven side by side with area, room count, beach access and Tripadvisor's published band for a standard room. The Golden Mile costs the most and, Guadalpin aside, East Marbella the least. Read the right-hand figure as the summer one: July and August are when Marbella's rates peak. Bands are low season to high, in euros.

Four-Stars Often Sold as Five
Several big names are four-stars on the Junta's register: Amàre Beach Hotel Marbella (236 rooms), Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach (167), Club Med Magna Marbella (502), Hard Rock Hotel Marbella (383) and Senator Marbella (185). Some are very good hotels, and Iberostar's Selection label is a brand tier, not an official star. Booking sites also badge the 187-room Alanda as five-star; we could not confirm that on the register, so it stays off our list.
The Nearest Five-Stars Just Outside Marbella
The nearest five-stars across the boundary are the five on Estepona's official list plus the relaunched Hacienda del Mar, two in Benahavís, Finca Cortesín in Casares and La Zambra in Mijas. Six of them carry Gran Lujo. They suit golf, spa time or a quieter base, but every night out in Puerto Banús means a taxi.
Estepona, West of the Port
Despite its name, the Senator Banús Spa Hotel (146 rooms, recently refurbished) is in Estepona, about 7 kilometres west of Puerto Banús. Elba Estepona Gran Hotel & Thalasso Spa (205 rooms) and Grand Hotel Las Dunas, Autograph Collection (69) are both Gran Lujo, and Ikos Andalusia, an all-inclusive beach resort, is the third Gran Lujo on the town's official list, which also names the METT Hotel & Beach Resort as a five-star. The former Kempinski Hotel Bahía now trades, after a full renovation, as Hacienda del Mar, member of Meliá Collection; guest reviews under the new name run to September 2026. Our Estepona escorts page covers bookings on that side.
Benahavís, Casares and Mijas
In the Benahavís hills, Anantara Villa Padierna Palace (130 units, Gran Lujo, registered in 2004) and The Westin La Quinta (about 170 rooms, still on the register under its old Meliá name) are golf hotels first. Finca Cortesín in Casares is a 67-suite Gran Lujo whose course hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup; our Finca Cortesín guide covers the rest. In Mijas, La Zambra reopened the old Byblos Andaluz in September 2022 as a 196-room Gran Lujo in Hyatt's Unbound Collection, between two 18-hole courses.
Which Five-Star Suits Couples, Families, Golf, Nightlife or Privacy?
Couples: the Marbella Club or Boho Club. Families: Don Carlos or Puente Romano. Golf: the Marbella Club inside the boundary, Finca Cortesín outside it. Nightlife: Puente Romano or ME Marbella. Privacy: a Marbella Club villa, or Gran Marbella for the quiet end of the coast.
Couples and Privacy
The Marbella Club's garden rooms are the quietest beach keys in Marbella, and its 16 villas, each with a private pool and butler, are the most private. Boho Club gives the same garden calm in 40 rooms for a smaller bill. Couples who want to be out every night do better at Nobu, where the adults-only pool and Puente Romano's twenty-odd restaurants are a few steps apart. Our top-end suites guide covers the villa tier.
Families, Golf and Nightlife
Families do best at Don Carlos, whose 24 residences suit bigger groups, or at Puente Romano, whose children's club has its own villa with a treehouse and pool. Golfers want the Marbella Club and its private course; across the boundary, Finca Cortesín, La Zambra and The Westin La Quinta. For nightlife, Puente Romano runs COYA Club on site and ME Marbella is a kilometre from the port. Our Puerto Banús escorts page covers that end of the coast.
Five-Star Layouts and a Companion's Arrival
The low-rise resorts make a visitor's arrival simplest: at the Marbella Club, Puente Romano and Boho Club most rooms open off garden paths, with no tower lift to share. In big blocks such as El Fuerte or Don Carlos, a guest receiving a visitor is one arrival among hundreds, which works as well. What decides it is the detail you send.
Garden Paths Versus Busy Lobbies
At the village-style resorts, the walk from the gate to a garden suite passes staff who see guests' visitors all day, and a villa adds its own front door. At El Fuerte (266 rooms), ME Marbella (200) or Don Carlos (284 plus residences), the lobby is busy enough that an arrival is routine. The one thing that slows any of them is a missing room or villa name. Our escort-friendly hotels list goes property by property, and our Golden Mile escorts page covers the strip that holds four of the ten.
What to Send Us, and the 2026 Rates
Send the hotel, the building or villa name and the time. An hour is €300 and two hours €600, on the Golden Mile, in Puerto Banús and in central Marbella alike; Estepona, Benahavís and Mijas carry a two-hour minimum, and you pay her taxi. A dinner date is three hours at least, from €900, and an overnight €3,000 to €4,000 depending on the companion and the length. If she stays the night, reception registers her as a second guest, as Spanish hotels must for everyone aged 14 or over. For the Gran Lujo addresses, most clients choose from our VIP companions. Our luxury escorts guide follows the same hotels out to the starred tables, the golf and the Sotogrande polo.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best five-star hotel in Marbella?
It depends on the stay. The Marbella Club is the quietest and dearest, Puente Romano the most social, Kimpton Los Monteros the best value with Gran Lujo status, and El Fuerte the only five-star a short walk from the old town. On a first visit, most of our clients pick the Golden Mile.
Is the Vincci Estrella del Mar in Marbella still open?
Not under that name. The hotel at Real de Zaragoza in East Marbella was refitted and reopened in July 2025 as Gran Marbella Resort and Beach Club, a five-star with 125 rooms, 10 suites, a Champneys spa and its own beach club, run by Iconic Luxury Hotels.
How much does a five-star hotel in Marbella cost in summer?
Leaving aside the troubled Guadalpin Banús, Tripadvisor's published bands put a standard room between about €236 a night at Kimpton Los Monteros and €1,780 at the Marbella Club, with summer dates at the top. Across all categories, INE put Marbella's average hotel rate at €416 a night in July 2026.
Are Amàre and Iberostar Coral Beach five-star hotels?
No. Both are four-stars on the Junta de Andalucía's tourism register: Amàre Beach Hotel Marbella with 236 rooms and Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach with 167. Club Med Magna Marbella and Hard Rock Hotel Marbella are four-stars too, though all four often appear beside the five-stars on booking sites.
