Playa Padre Marbella: Boho Sundays, Tacos and 2026 Prices on El Cable Beach

Plenty of guides file Playa Padre under Puerto Banús. It is on the other side of town, on El Cable beach just east of Marbella's old town, and it runs on its own clock: open Thursday to Sunday only, with Sunday given over to Boho Sunday and a guest DJ until midnight. Where Is Playa Padre?

On El Cable beach, at Calle Playa del Cable s/n, about 1.5 km east of Marbella's old town and roughly 9 km by road from Puerto Banús. El Cable is one of Marbella's eight Blue Flag beaches for 2026, so the water in front of the club is tested and the beach has lifeguards in season.

El Cable, Not Puerto Banús

Playa Padre belongs to Grupo Mosh, a Marbella hospitality group that has run venues since 2016 and took its current name in 2020; it also runs La Cabane with Dani García's group, Nido in Estepona and Momento. The address, Calle Playa del Cable, postcode 29603, puts it on the stretch of sand that runs east from the La Bajadilla fishing port. Guides that group it with the Puerto Banús clubs send people to the wrong end of the municipality, and that matters for transport: from a marina hotel it is a 15-minute taxi, from the old town a walk.

Twenty Minutes on Foot From the Old Town

From the Plaza de los Naranjos the walk is about 1.5 km: down to the seafront at the old town's beach, La Venus, then east along the promenade past La Bajadilla port. Allow 20 minutes, a little more on the way back after a long Sunday. The beach in front holds a 2026 Blue Flag on ADEAC's list, alongside Cabopino, El Faro, La Fontanilla, Nagüeles-Casablanca, Los Monteros, Guadalmina and Venus-Bajadilla, so a swim between courses is a reasonable plan rather than a gamble.

When Is Playa Padre Open?

Thursday to Sunday only. On Thursdays and Sundays the club runs from noon to midnight; on Fridays and Saturdays it closes at 21:00. On Sundays the sunbeds can be used only until 18:00, when Boho Sunday takes over, so a Sunday bed is a six-hour product. Monday to Wednesday it is shut.

A Four-Day Week

The opening pattern is the first thing to check, because it catches visitors who plan a Tuesday. The club's reservations page lists Thursday and Sunday from 12:00 to 24:00 and Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 21:00. Thursday has its own night, Mezcla, a techno session from the resident DJs Benchek and Drush. It is a seasonal club: its food menu was reissued on 7 September 2026, so it was still trading in September, but check its pages before planning a visit outside the summer months.

Sundays Run on a Different Clock

On Sundays the beds are a day product and the party is an evening one. The latest published rates note that sunbeds can only be used until 18:00 on Sundays because of Boho Sunday, after which the beach turns into a dance floor as the sun goes down. Arrive at 13:00 for a bed and lunch, or after 18:00 for the party, but do not book a bed at 16:00 and expect to keep it until dark. Thursday has no changeover, which makes it the better day for a long, unhurried evening.

Boho Sunday and the 2026 Line-up

Boho Sunday is the club's weekly party, starting as the sun drops and running to midnight with a guest DJ. The 2026 programme the club posted in May listed 37 acts, with house and techno names such as Marco Carola, Dixon, Jamie Jones, ANOTR and Andrea Oliva, and more added through the season.

Who Played in 2026

The line-up page runs from Marco Carola, Dixon and Jamie Jones to Nic Fanciulli, Francis Mercier, Dennis Cruz and Shimza, alongside the residents. The names are spread across the season's Sundays rather than stacked on one bill, and the crowd changes with the headliner: a Marco Carola Sunday is a different afternoon from a melodic-house one. Skulls, Colours and the Look of the Place

The club's other signature is visual. Art Padre, a project with a Marbella arts agency, hands large 3D skulls, the club's emblem, to artists to paint live; the last edition used 13 artists, and the finished skulls stay on display and are sold for charity. In 2026 the bar joined in with WeDrinkColors, a cocktail list by Ángel García in which every drink is a colour, from White to Psychedelic. It tells you who the club is for: people who came for the music and the look of the place as much as for the beach.

Budget about €360 for two on standard beds with a shared lunch and cocktails, service included. The latest published bed rates, for high season 2025, were €120 for a standard bed and €650 for a VIP bed for two; in both cases most of the price is a minimum spend on food and drink.

Working Out the Real Bill

The bed price is mostly credit. On a standard bed, €70 of the €120 comes back as food and drink, so two beds cost €100 in sunbed fees plus whatever you order. A typical lunch for two, guacamole, ceviche, two tacos and the sea bass, comes to €136, and four cocktails add €100. That is €336 before the 10% service charge on food and drink, or about €360 in all. The €650 VIP bed includes a bottle of Moët, which lists at €280 in 2026, and a fruit tray, so it only makes sense for a couple who would order the champagne anyway.

The Kitchen: Mediterranean With a Mexican Accent

The menu, under chef Franco Franceschini, mixes Mediterranean fish and grill with Mexican flavours and a sushi counter. Tacos run €22 to €36, the house ceviche is €28, the sea bass zarandeada €40 and a ribeye €47; the bar works mainly in tequila and mezcal, with most cocktails at €25.

What to Order

The 2026 menu, reissued on 7 September, is built for sharing. Start with guacamole at €19, mussels in a ceviche dressing at €19 or the house ceviche at €28, then tacos: beef at €22, soft-shell crab at €23, lamb pibil at €27 and wagyu at €36. The grill covers flank steak at €41, lamb chops at €42 and the ribeye at €47, and the sea bass zarandeada, fish split open and grilled in the Mexican style, is €40. The sushi counter sells nigiri from €6 a piece and rolls from €25.

Tequila by Colour

Each drink on the 2026 list has a colour for a name. Green is Don Julio Blanco with pineapple, jalapeño, coriander and adobo; Yellow is Don Julio Reposado with pineapple, passion fruit and vanilla. Most are €25, two premium signatures are €50, and lemonades and the healthy list are €16. For bottles, Moët Brut Imperial is €280 and spirits start at €620 for a bottle of Tanqueray or Bacardi. As at La Cabane, the 10% service charge goes on top of the printed prices.

Who Goes, and Who Should Go Elsewhere?

Sundays draw a dressed-up, music-led crowd that comes for the DJ and stays until midnight; Thursdays run a resident techno night. It suits couples and groups who like house music and a late finish. It is the wrong choice for a quiet beach day, a family outing or any Monday to Wednesday.

Thursday or Sunday?

For the full Playa Padre day, Sunday is the one: lunch from 13:00, the bed until 18:00, the party until midnight, with whichever guest DJ is booked. Thursday gives the same late licence with Benchek and Drush, a better choice for anyone who prefers residents to a headliner and has to work on Friday. Fridays and Saturdays close at 21:00, so they behave like an ordinary beach-club day, and that is when a bed is easiest to find.

Playa Padre, Ocean Club or La Cabane?

The three are often compared and rarely interchangeable. Ocean Club, west of Puerto Banús, sells beds as champagne packages around a saltwater pool and closes at 21:00. La Cabane, Playa Padre's sister club at Los Monteros, is built around the Dani García lunch and admits nobody under 16 to its pool area. Playa Padre is the one with the late Sunday and the DJ bill. Getting There and Getting Home

Walk from the old town in 20 minutes along the promenade, or take a taxi from Puerto Banús, about 9 km and 15 minutes. The awkward journey is the return at midnight on a Sunday, when the weekend night tariff applies and the whole club leaves at once, so book a car in advance.

Fares on the 2026 Meter

Marbella's 2026 taxi tariff is €3.79 plus €1.12 a kilometre by day on weekdays, and €4.64 plus €1.41 a kilometre at night and at weekends. From Puerto Banús that is roughly €14 on a Thursday afternoon and €17 on a Sunday night for the 9 km; from a Golden Mile hotel, about €11 to €13. Clients staying in the centre often skip the taxi entirely: the seafront promenade back to the old town is lit all the way, and on a summer night it is rarely empty.

Leaving at Midnight on a Sunday

Boho Sunday ends at midnight and the whole beach empties onto the same seafront road. Pre-book a car for 23:45 with the driver's number saved, and keep the next step short: a hotel in the centre, or a late table in the old town, which our old town by night guide covers. If you fly home on Monday morning, Málaga airport is about 45 minutes away by motorway, and a midnight finish on Sunday makes an early flight a long night.

Pick the Sunday if you both like the music and the Thursday if you would rather talk. A central Marbella booking is €300 an hour; a Sunday from lunch to the end of the party is billed by the hour, or as an overnight if it runs into the night, at the same price as a weekday.
