Elviria is where a large share of Marbella's repeat visitors actually stay, and almost none of them write about it. The reason is simple: nothing photographable happens here. What there is instead is several kilometres of good beach, a row of substantial resort hotels, and a hillside of villas under pine trees with views back down to the water — the version of the Costa del Sol that people book for the second and third time rather than the first. Elviria is east Marbella's resort belt, fifteen minutes from the town centre, with long uncrowded beaches, hotel and villa stock in equal measure, and escort bookings that carry no travel supplement because it sits inside the municipality. Where Elviria Is and How It Is Laid Out
About 12 kilometres east of Marbella town, between Las Chapas and Cabopino. It splits cleanly into two halves: a beachfront strip of resort hotels and beach clubs, and a residential hillside of villa urbanisations behind the coast road. The split matters for where you stay.
The Beachfront
Several kilometres of wide sand, backed by a small number of large hotels rather than the continuous development you find west of Marbella. The beach clubs here include some of the coast's best known — our Nikki Beach guide covers the most famous of them, which sits on this stretch. Outside the beach clubs, the sand is genuinely quiet even in August.
The Marbella municipality covers roughly 27 kilometres of coastline, and the eastern third of it was developed considerably later than the Golden Mile.
The Hills Behind
Elviria's villa urbanisations climb into pine-covered hills with views back over the water, and they are considerably more relaxed than the gated hillsides further west. There are no manned barriers on most of them, addressing is straightforward, and the whole area feels residential rather than exclusive. For a villa booking this makes the logistics easier than Sierra Blanca or Nueva Andalucía.
Why the Beaches Are Better Here
Because there is less behind them. East Marbella was developed later and more sparsely than the Golden Mile, so the beaches are wider, longer and emptier — and the water is noticeably cleaner for the same reason. It is the area's strongest single argument.
Space, Even in August
Walk two hundred metres from any beach club here in the first week of August and you will find room. That is simply not true of Playa Nagüeles or the beaches around Puerto Banús. The Beach Clubs
East Marbella holds several of the coast's biggest names alongside quieter chiringuitos on the same sand, which is an unusually good combination — you can have the full sunbed-and-champagne day or a plate of grilled fish and a beer, within a few hundred metres. How Bookings Work in Elviria
Outcalls to hotels and villas, at standard Marbella rates with no travel supplement. Allow a few hours more notice than a central Marbella booking, since the drive is around fifteen minutes each way. Otherwise it is straightforward.
The Resort Hotels
Elviria's beachfront hotels are large, busy, four and five-star properties with constant guest movement — which makes an arrival about as unremarkable as it gets. The Villas
Easier than most Marbella villa areas: mostly ungated, clearly addressed, and a straightforward drive off the coast road. Send a map pin anyway — pine-covered hillsides look identical at night. Evenings in East Marbella
Dinner locally is good and quiet; a night out means going west. Elviria has restaurants and beach clubs that run late in summer, but there is no club scene and no reason to expect one. Two workable shapes.
Stay Local
The beach clubs run through the evening in summer, and the hotels hold several genuinely good restaurants — the coast's resort dining is better than its reputation suggests, and our hotel restaurants post makes the case. For a dinner-date booking this is an easy, unhurried evening with no logistics at all.
Or Head Into Town
Fifteen minutes to Marbella old town, twenty-five to Puerto Banús. If the evening involves a proper dinner and a club, this is the move — but book the return taxi, because getting one back east at three in the morning is harder than it sounds. Multi-Day Bookings

Value
Hotels, restaurants and beach clubs all price below the western end of the municipality for comparable quality. For clients who would rather spend the difference on the booking than on the room, east Marbella is the rational base — and the beaches are better, which is not usually how value works.
When to Stay West

What Is Nearby
Cabopino and the protected Artola dunes are five minutes east, Mijas Pueblo twenty minutes up into the hills, and Marbella town fifteen minutes west. Elviria is the best-placed base on the eastern half of the municipality. Three worth the trip.
Cabopino and the Dunes
Five minutes east: a small fishing marina, seafood restaurants on the quay, and a protected dune system with a 16th-century watchtower at the top of it. The best short walk on this half of the coast. Our Cabopino post and Artola dunes post cover both.
